Range? You get up to 85 miles (137 km) from the 733 Wh battery on a single charge. Push it on rough terrain or in higher power modes, and the range drops faster, but that’s expected. Still, cruising over 40 miles through snowy woods with a loaded picnic basket is more than enough for most riders. Solid Drivetrain
Budget e-bikes often skimp on drivetrains to cut costs. But that’s not the case with the Aventon Aventure M. Aventon chose Shimano’s new Cues system, a reliable 1×10 speed setup paired with an 11-39T cassette. It’s a solid choice for a baseline drivetrain on a modern e-bike, offering smooth and reliable shifting that stands out in its class.
I tested the Shimano Cues myself, and it performs decently, but it’s not perfect. Shifting uphill or under heavy pressure isn’t what it loves most. But it handles these conditions far better than older budget systems. Shimano is clearly raising the bar with this new groupset. It brings more durability, smoother gear changes, and an overall better riding experience than what you would expect at this price point.

Shimano’s Cues system replaces several of their previous low-end groupsets like Altus and Alivio, as well as some road bike setups. This consolidation reduces Shimano’s production costs and simplifies their lineup. With fewer models to manage, Shimano can now focus on refining and sharpening their product quality. This makes the Cues groupset a strong, competitive choice for e-bikes now and in the years ahead.

Smart Drivetrain and Strong Brakes
The Aventure M’s price bump comes with a slick and smart drivetrain upgrade. Aventon added an electronic shifter that lets you change gears smoothly and with precision every time. If you want to take it a step further, there’s AutoShift, which automatically switches gears based on your speed and pedaling cadence.

When you unlock the motor, the Aventure M can hit speeds up to 28 mph (45 kph). By default, the bike’s speed is capped at 20 mph (32 kph) to meet local regulations and to keep you riding safely. This balance of power and control makes the bike both thrilling and reliable on varied terrain.

Smooth Suspension and Solid Reviews
The Aventure M’s suspension setup keeps every ride smooth and comfortable. While the fat 4-inch tires add a natural cushion that absorbs bumps, the real work is done by the front suspension fork.
